July 6: National Fried Chicken Day

I would have never known if it weren't for Facebook, but today is National Fried Chicken Day. Not sure I'm in the mood for any right now. Maybe tonight? For the rest of you, since we don't have KFC anymore, there's always the fried chicken at the Winco deli.

The nearest Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant is in Brookings, Oregon. A bit weird that it also has a Taco Bell in the same building.

It always struck me as odd that the KFC in Cloverdale is at a gas station adjacent a mini- mart. I believe you have to enter the KFC through the mini mart. Of all the times I've been through there, I've only seen people in that KFC once, and that was the last time we went by there.

I can't believe it, but I actually MISS KFC.

I haven't been to KFC in years and have no real desire to. I would think, though, that Eureka could generate enough business for at least one KFC.

I remember when a lovely home was torn down to build a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at the corner of 14th and G in Arcata. This was in 1970.

When did it close down? It was there last time we went through about 6(?) months ago. The Quizzno's nearby closed quite a while back.
