Effort Underway to End Federal Law Enforcement on Fed Lands

A republican congressman has introduced legislation to eliminate the law enforcement functions of the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service. The idea being to have them replaced by local law enforcement agencies should law enforcement functions be needed:

"Federal agencies do not enjoy the same level of trust and respect as local law enforcement that are deeply rooted in local communities,” they said, adding that the measure “will help deescalate conflicts between law enforcement and local residents while improving transparency and accountability.”

Sounds good to me. If nothing else, it might make an interesting test case as for the need for such a large federal law enforcemnent presence. Wouldn't it be something if this actually passed but we hear no stories of the chaos and anarchy I'm sure some would expect from a move like this?

down here in lake county i visit mendocino natl. forest and cache creek wildlife area and indian valley wildlife area . there is NO law enforcement of any kind . BLM cleans up trash cans and places toilet paper and i have not seen a forest ranger in the areas i drive in over 30 years .
25 years ago lake county stopped providing a deputy to patrol forest lands after mendocino natl forest stopped paying them . now every time i go take a drive there is garbage and trash and people shooting at anything and everything that moves . big bon fires all night long in summer heat and no law enforcement what so ever . i dont see any changes if local law enforcement took over around here . they wont drive up and into those areas just to see if IF there is any wrong doing . and it would take them years to find all the back areas where damage is done .
but after saying that , i welcome any law enforcement and hope they can help clear out the trashy people that destroy things in the name of fun .

Fantastic!! Maybe they will go back to managing the land instead of playing swat. I hear the wildlife would appreciate their watering holes put back in, the destruction of tanks & lines has been a real killer. Maybe instead of investing in artillery, they'll invest in native grass seed to restore the grazing. Maybe instead of surrounding people with snipers, they'll surround them with peace. We can always hope. There is a strong reason why we are not to have a standing military & the BLM over reach is one of them.
